The "City of Palms" also known as Fort Myers, is located on the Caloosahatchee River about 97 miles from St. Petersburg in central western Florida. The community was originally named after Colonel Abraham C. Myers and now spans over 31 square miles in land area making it a sizeable addition to Lee County. In the early 1900’s, Thomas Edison planted palm trees along McGregor Boulevard, which resulted in a neighborhood decorated with palm trees throughout. Rated as number five on Healthy Cities list by Organic Style magazine, North Fort Myers now holds a population of about 44,000 residents.
